Last week, Caroline and I spent a few hours getting the kids’ playroom organized, cleaning up, taking out trash, and sorting through toys.
Luckily she’s three, so I could entertain her with something while I quickly stuffed unused toys into a large bag to take to Goodwill.
After reading Shonda Rhimes’ The Year of Yes, I was inspired to get rid of things in my house that don’t bring me immediate happiness or that clutter it up – when the house is cluttered, my brain is cluttered and I’m not a very effective wife, mom, or human being.
Kids don’t quite understand this concept – if you hold any toy up in front of one of my girls, immediately they have special memories and a million reasons they need to keep every single one. Therefore, Mama cleans and declutters the playroom when the older kids are at school! Continue reading “Ashley Does: Playroom Clean-Up”
Having been a tomboy for much of my life, I had no idea Pantone was a thing. Or that they decided the hot colors of the year.
Now that I have embraced my inner girly girl and all things pretty, I’m in love with the Pantone website!
This year’s color, Greenery, is right up my alley. It’s beautifully natural, as well as neutral, and will work really well with the colors I already have in my life.
For me, 2017 is all about getting organized and getting rid of the things that distract me so I can really focus on myself, my business, and my family. These gorgeous Pantone palettes are helping me achieve these goals – if it’s pretty, I’m way more likely to follow through!
I’ve been having a lot of fun playing around with different palettes, trying to figure out which to use in my house and which in my wardrobe.
And of course, which to use to accessorize life! Continue reading “Ashley Does: How Pantone’s Color Of The Year Is Shaping My 2017”
I am an extroverted introvert.
I know, it sounds ridiculous. I didn’t even know it was a real thing until the internet told me it was – so obviously it’s true.
I love to talk to people…once I know them a little.
I love going to social events…once I’m out of the house.
I enjoy helping people and giving advice and being a confidant…if someone asks me for help or advice.
My girl time is invaluable…but I also need my alone time.
A LOT of it.
This has made my journey in sales….interesting. Slow. Uncomfortable.
And so, so rewarding! Continue reading “Ashley Does: What I want you to know about how I do business”
If you are on the internet ever, there’s a chance you’ve seen the “What To Get Mom for Mother’s Day” videos going around.
Basically their message is leave mom alone. Let her sleep in. Do her chores. Give her the TV remote.
Don’t get me wrong…
Sleeping is in nice.
Having a clean house is nice.
Not having to adult is nice.
But you know what else is nice? Thoughtful gifts from my husband and kids. Their time. Their gratitude and appreciation toward me.
I hate the idea of Mother’s Day as a “day off.” I want to spend it with the people who made me a mom! And with MY mom! We are celebrating moms on Mother’s Day and dangit, I want to be celebrated. Not ignored.
Ignore me on Tuesday. Please. Please?
Please. Continue reading “Ashley Does: What (this) Mom Really Wants for Mother’s Day”
I have been married for 9 years. During that time, we have accumulated a lot of crap.
I mean, a LOT.
Add 3 kids to the mix and there’s a never ending pile on my kitchen counter, overflowing toy boxes in the living room, and clothes and shoes crammed in to every corner of our house.
What’s a girl to do, besides get a bunch of super cute bins, bags, and caddies to organize it all? Continue reading “Ashley Does: Home Organization”
You get an invite to a girls’ night in. Margarita Monday.
Sounds fun, right? I could totally go for some girl time and margaritas!
Then, you see it. A logo. A brand. A consultant’s name. A website.
Oh Lordy, not another boring direct sales party! If I have to go listen to a sales rep hard sell me on her product, business opportunity, or hostess perks for an hour, I will never recover. I better just tell my friend, who I’d love to hang out with, that I can’t come so I don’t have to sit through that torture and then feel bad that I don’t buy anything.
Guys, do you see what’s wrong with this picture?
